A two-story brick building would be completed from 1908 – 1910 by Norfolk & Western Railroad Company (N&W) which is now part of the modern-day Norfolk Southern Corporation. In 1912, N&W bought out another railway company called Tidewater Railway which allowed them to gain more tracks running through town so therefore required more room on the east side of town for their trains. The city’s first streetcar line was established by Tidewater Railway in 1912 so therefore they had to build another train station which is what you see today that still stands tall above the streets and tracks of Ashland, Virginia.
